We drove to Utah last week for a few days. The trip was long both ways but we made it. We had a really good time. The kids really enjoyed helping great grandma and great grandpa around the house with chores. They really enjoyed the tractor lawn mower. That was Shawn’s first request Thursday morning when everyone was awake. Rhiannon, my mom and Shawn all helped trim the rose bushes and water the gardens. Shawn’s favorite thing to do is water. We also helped clean grandpa’s rain gutters. They had plants growing in them. That would definitely make them not work so well.
Rhiannon and Shawn had so much fun playing with all the cousins. There are so many to play with.
On Family Reunion day we spent the day at the park with a pond. Uncle Craig and Aunt Diana got canoes and a paddle boat for everybody to enjoy. Some of the kids were in the water the whole time. Rhiannon and Shawn played in the water for a while but they wanted to play at the park and of course Rhiannon wanted to play on the monkey bars. After that we went back to Uncle Craig and Aunt Diana’s house for an amazing feast and playing outside. The kids all got in a water fight and were soaked, they were really having a good time. It is really neat watching all the kids play together. Then we did the piñata, which was a little scary for us adults. Rhiannon just went swinging as soon as she got the bat and hit Shaun (Leia’s husband) in the leg. Some kids kept running towards the person swinging the bat. Shawn was not really into the whole pinata thing but he liked the candy. The kids enjoyed it and enjoyed all the loot they got. Shawn was not really into the whole pinata thing but he liked the candy. It was sad to leave. Our trips are always so short. But I hope to see everyone next year for more fun.
Rhiannon celebrated her 6th birthday Monday. I can’t believe it has already been six years. She keeps measuring herself against everybody to show us how big she is now that she is six. Her birthday morning Mike got up and made her pancakes and bacon. Then they just played the whole day. We didn’t do anything until Tuesday because that was Mike’s night off. Rhiannon requested dinner outside on our picnic table. She wanted a cheese pizza and a pepperoni. So that is what we had for dinner. She requested a chocolate cake with white frosting and big confetti sprinkles and chocolate ice cream with brownie chunks. My mom made the cake and it was good. She didn’t think so but. Mom it was just fine and tasted great. Her birthday celebration was just my parents and us. We had a great time spending some time together. That was my first night home with Mike in almost four months.
