I used some of my vacation time again this summer and took Tuesdays off to do things with the family. We did not get to do as much as we did last year. For some reason dentists appointment and doctors appointments or grocery shopping always took place on a Tuesday. We did go to the beach, went hiking and went to the Folsom Zoo.
The kids pretty much spent everyday from morning to night outside and have great tans to prove it. Rhiannon got an 8 foot swimming pool for her birthday so they would play in that all day. They would play then run inside change into clothes and then 20 minutes later change back into there suits. Lillyanne loves to be outdoors playing to. Her skin is a lot lighter than the other two so we tried to keep her out of the sun as much as we could with a very active baby. She started walking a couple of months ago.
Shawn and Rhiannon took swim lessons again. They are little fish and spent most of the lesson under water. We recently went to San Diego for my grandmother's funeral. Of course it was a short trip. We were only gone for two days. My aunt has a pool. The kids spent every minute they could in that pool. Just from those two days they are much better swimmers. They were swimming across the deep end on there own. Shawn started off swimming along the edge all the way around so it was there for him to grab onto when needed. But then he got daring and started to try and swim across. The first few times he paniced half way across but kept on swimming to the other side. Then he kept doing it. Rhiannon wore goggles but Shawn didn't want to so his eyes were so red.
We had so much fun with all our visitors this summer and us going places. Utah and San Diego.
At family reunion we went to a water park that had water slides and a lazy river. It was so much fun. The kids loved it. We had alot of fun seeing family. But that trip is always long hours in the car and a VERY short stay.
Rhiannon is now in second grade and so far likes her teacher. She is such a social little butterfly. She loves school and loves to learn new things. She gets so excited when she accomplishes something new. She just needs to learn to be patient while learning. She expects to know things instantly.
Shawn is now in kindergarten. He has the same teacher Rhiannon had in kindergarten. He wanted her, but we were not sure we wanted her. When Rhiannon had her. Every day I picked Rhiannon up the teacher would come up to me and tell me all about the problems from that day. Rhiannon had two boys that liked her and they would cause her to get in trouble all the time. I volunteered one day and saw one boy poking her and bugging her. She kept telling him to stop, when he didn't she pushed him. That is when the teacher turned around and told Rhiannon to go sit in the hall. I said something to the teacher. When it came to signing her up for 1st grade I requested those boys not be in her class. They were not and she never had a problem with her 1st grade teacher.
So hopefully this year goes good for Shawn. My one concern is his age. Because he does not turn 5 until the end of October I'm concerned about how he will do. So many people are telling me how we should hold him back and put him in next year so he will be the oldest and do better. His preschool teachers said he was the smartest in the classes and learned so quickly. They said he was ready for kindergarten. So when back to school night happens I will talk with his teacher and see how things are going. He seems to be doing ok with the exception of a couple little punks that are being mean.
Lillyanne misses her sister and brother while they are at school. She had them around for two months and now they are gone all day. She now has three teeth and one more coming in. She is such a happy baby, but shy. She likes family but that is about it. It takes her awhile to warm up to people. She barely just started letting my parents hold her. She knows her routine pretty well. Yesterday she was wanting milk so she goes and stands at the dishwasher and points up where the formula is. Once I make it depending on the time of day she will go to that spot as soon as I have the milk ready and wait for it. If it is morning she will go and get her pillow out of the kids room and put it in front of the couch. If it is afternoon she goes to the chair we sit in together and if it is night she goes to my bed.
Rhiannon has to wear an eye patch. She went to the eye doctor and he said she can hardly see through her left eye. He is concerned because the developmental period for the eye is birth to 7 years old and was surprised it was not caught sooner. I was pretty upset to hear that and was mad at her other doctors for not catching it. So we need to see if we can train this eye to work better. She has new glasses that I think got mixed up and are enormous on her. We are getting a new pair as soon as the doctor gets back. Now we no why she is constantly running into things and hurting herself. She received a beautiful blessing from Bishop Coleman.

I think everybody has a picture of there kid in the dishwasher. I have one of Rhiannon and Shawn just like this.
